2. General

This website is a personal profile. It uses no cookies, no analytics or tracking tools and embeds no third-party content. Fonts are served locally from this server; no connection to Google or other third parties is made when you visit.

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you access the website, the hosting provider processes technically necessary data, in particular IP address, date and time of access, page requested, amount of data transferred, referrer, browser and operating system. This data is required to deliver the website and keep it secure.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; my legitimate interest is the secure and stable provision of the website. Where data is transferred to the USA, this is based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

4. Contact by email

If you email me, I process your information solely to handle your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The data is deleted once it is no longer needed for that purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply.

5. External links

This website links to external services such as LinkedIn, ORCID, Google Scholar and publishers' DOI pages. Data is only transferred to these providers when you click a link; their own privacy policies then apply.

6. Your rights

You have the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). Simply contact me by email.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, for example the Independent Centre for Privacy Protection Schleswig-Holstein (ULD), Holstenstraße 98, 24103 Kiel, Germany.

The German version of this policy (Datenschutzerklärung) is legally binding.
